What is Linux whereis Command?  

In this tutorial we learn how to use whereis command in Linux. whereis command is whereis - locate the binary, source, and manual page files for a command

whereis Syntax  

       whereis [options] [-BMS directory... -f] name...

whereis Examples  

whereis Command Manual / Help  

We can use man and info command to see the manual page of whereis command.

whereis command also have --help option to show list of options.

To open man page for whereis command we can use command below. To exit man or info page you can press q.

man whereis

To open info page for whereis command we can use command below.

info whereis

To open help page from whereis command we can run command below.

whereis --help
