What is Linux env Command?#

In this tutorial we learn how to use env command in Linux. env command is env - run a program in a modified environment.

Set each NAME to VALUE in the environment and run COMMAND. remove variable from the environment.

env Syntax#

env [OPTION]... [-] [NAME=VALUE]... [COMMAND [ARG]...]

We can use man and info command to see the manual page of env command. env command also have --help option to show list of options.

To open man page for env command we can use command below. To exit man or info page you can press q.

man env
